Eight years ago I had an experience that I’ll never forget while my parents and I were driving through Extremadura towards Andalusia. We had been travelling for several hours across Spanish roads and we were utterly exhausted, when all of a sudden something appeared in front of us.
In the spur of the moment, my father swerved without realising what it was. The car slid getting perpendicular to the road. We all sigh, but with no time to react, a truck was heading towards us at high speed. He had the time enough to pull the car backwards the sufficient distance in order to get the cabin of the car safe. The truck collided with the front of the vehicle without harmful consequences; we were all safe and sound. What a close shave!
Once returned to calm, we realised that what had caused the accident had been a dog crossing the road. A poor foraging animal may have caused a serious accident.
