I felt scared

Last summer I had an experience that I’ll never forget. I took part in a football tournament and in one of the two matches I played; I went crazy because a lot of weird things happens.

The opponents were kicking us every single minute, the goal keeper had no idea about football rules and the referee was whistling against our team all the time. I was getting on my nerves and I started insulting the referee and kicking everything I found on my way. Eventually, the referee threw me out of the match. A few minutes, when the match had finished, a father, whose child was football player from the other team, started to frown on me. When I saw him, I confronted him. Suddenly, he ran very fast towards me to kick me. Fortunately the president of the club and two people more took that man to keep him away from me.

When the entire event was over, I took my helmet and went home. The next day, I felt scared so I sent a message to the captain of the team to make up with either team and that father.

The last Weekend I had one of the most relaxing and heartwarming experiences of my life while I was in a mountain retreat. My friends and I were staying in a cottage house in a village at 1500 meters height called Gisclareny. It was one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.

The first day we went hiking to a small chapel on top of a hill, where you could enjoy some astonishing views of the Catalan Pyrenees, the walk was long and exhausting, but it was worth all the effort. We spend that night telling stories around the fireplace, and the next day we went through the woods to take some pictures and rest. When I was there, with all the autumn trees around me and the cold but pleasurable breeze, I took a moment to relax and think about how beautiful nature was, it was absolutely breathtaking.

The moments we had in that retreat were enriching in a way that I can't describe and I'm pretty sure I will never, ever forget them. It isn't easy, but I know that some day I will return to that peaceful place where I was able to release all my stress and rebirth to a new life.

Road safety

Eight years ago I had an experience that I’ll never forget while my parents and I were driving through Extremadura towards Andalusia. We had been travelling for several hours across Spanish roads and we were utterly exhausted, when all of a sudden something appeared in front of us.

In the spur of the moment, my father swerved without realising what it was. The car slid getting perpendicular to the road. We all sigh, but with no time to react, a truck was heading towards us at high speed. He had the time enough to pull the car backwards the sufficient distance in order to get the cabin of the car safe. The truck collided with the front of the vehicle without harmful consequences; we were all safe and sound. What a close shave!

Once returned to calm, we realised that what had caused the accident had been a dog crossing the road. A poor foraging animal may have caused a serious accident.

A rough start

I couldn’t believe it when I heard the news. I was actually going to Rome for my birthday. It was March, so the air was cold and the slight breeze make me shiver as I step outside of the airport. Mum urged me to put on my coat so I wouldn’t get a cold and hurry because it was getting late. As we stood on the pavement waiting for a taxi I began to worry. You would expect to find many, but there wasn’t a taxi in sight!

After a while a car pulled up, and a short, plump, man stepped outside. Turning towards us he asked “Taxi?” Perplexed I exchanged glances with my mum for as the car that he had come in wasn’t any different than a regular car. He explained that due to manifestations going on at the moment this was the only taxi service available. Suspicious, we stepped inside anyways, since there wasn’t any another way to get to our hotel. I nervously kept looking down at my watch waiting to arrive, but time just kept going bye, we had been in the car for 30 minutes now and the hotel was only a 5 minute drive. To nervous to engage in conversation I started to drift off wondering where we were really going. Where we actually going to the Hotel?

Mum couldn’t handle the suspense anymore and she told the drive to stop so that we could get off. He refused, reassuring us that there was no need, he new the way. She insisted again to just please let us off, her voice all shaky. Just as I was about to call for help, around the corner I could see the shinning lights of the hotel. What a relief. After all we had arrived safe and sound.

NARRATIVE ESSAY

My last Christmas holidays were awful. I will never forget when I was staying in Berlin with my little sister and my grandparents.
The weather was horrible, freezing and snowing. We had been playing for a long time in a Christmas's fair, near to a beautiful river, when suddenly we saw someone in the water drowning.
We were scared about the image but it became worst when we saw that my little sister wasn't with us. We were looking for a few minutes for my sister and then we saw his scarf in the floor. We can't believe it!! We didn't know what to think!!
She had disappeared!! During one second we were thinking that she was the person inside the water.
Five minutes later, something gave us hope. Someone had helped the person who was inside the water and we can saw that she wasn't my sister.
Out of the crow, we saw her asking for popcorn in a small shop. My grandparents and I were really happy but quite angry too, because she didn't ask our permission.
She was really sorry and after our adventure we think twice about leaving my little sister walking alone.

SHORT STORY

Last summer I had an experience that I’ll never forget. In my village there’s a huge lake, my friends and I were staying in front of the lake when we was explaining an urban legend about “the spirit of the lake”. We’d have been scared when suddenly we see the water grow up.

David and Jhony immediately sat up and started running. Lourdes and Me were surprised and without moving. At first 15 seconds we can’t respond to the situation, we didn’t know what was happening and we were scared suddenly we had listened someone cried strongly and immediately we got up and ran behind David and Jhony. After running for a long time we stopped for a second, we stood there with our mouths wide open. What a close shave!

EVEN TODAY, WE DON’T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. I will certainly think twice to going to the lake . Probably the spirit had manifested that day…

GOOD SAMARITAN

It was my first wedding anniversary and I was driving to the restaurant where my wife and I had to met. Although my car is a "Smart" there was no place to park, so I had to be searching for a place, but nobody left his place with his car. I was exhausted and starving

Afterwards I saw a handicapped parking, my intention was to park perpendicular to the other parked cars to take up less space, but suddenly when I thought that the coast was clear a policeman appeared through the window of the car, I realized that he caught me red-handed, and I have to leave the place and continue searching.

In the end I found a little place in where I was able to park, but I had to maneuvered, thanks god that a nice person was advising me during the maneuvers. I got it after intense minutes trying to park. I was about to leave the car when the person who helped me entered the car was in front of my car and leave his place. When he leave it was a gigantic place to park.

Two weeks ago, I was going back home from school at night. It was very dark, so my mother had told me to pick up a Taxi, but I refused to do so. While I was walking, I heard a strange noise, it was a motorcycle but it didn’t make the slightest effect on me. I was very anxious to get home.

I walked about 100 meters and the motorcycle, was still doing funny things, I thought: ‘What a brainless person you can be to behave like this’. As I continued walking, I realized that the driver was getting closer and closer, and it was then when I started to panic. I had to stop. Next to me, there was a good -looking woman, ornamented with expensive Jewelry.

I saw that the man on the motorbike was getting nearer to us. He reached his hand out to the women’s neck and stole her necklace. The lady reacted in a very violent way and began to hit the man with her handbag. Luckily for the man, he ran away and unluckily for me I received all her yelling and punishment. I was terrified and got into the nearest taxi, which drove me home.  Now, when I walk in the street at night, I’m always aware people, just in case.

Crazy taxi

Last weekend I had to go to a party. At eight o'clock I started to change my clothes and makeup, it was too late when I finished. I was cutting it fine, so I decided to get a taxi.

In only five minutes I was sitting in the taxi. At first sight the driver looks good, except for the fact he was looking at me with a huge smile on his face that makes he seems quite mad. I told him the direction ( Av. Diagonal 13). The driver was looking where was the place in a map, in that moment I realise he was smelling like alcohol. He begans to speak, the few words he could say correctly were without sense. In that moment I started to feel really afraid, and when I saw that I didn't know those streets, my fear begans to improve.
The taxi driver was doing a lot of crazy things, while he was in a contradireccion way, he was opening the door of the car, I didn't understand nothing, the only thing I was desiring in that moment was going out of that crazy taxi.

Finally, we stopped in a very strange street, he forces me to go down, and with a knife, he wants to cut my knee. I was absolutely terrified. I do everything I could to save my life, but I didn't win the battle...Suddenly I woke up, it was a dream. I really was late to the party, but this time, I decided to tell my mum if she can took me, just in the case, the nightmare comes truth.

LOST

Two summer ago, when I was having my summer holidays, I had an experience that I’ll never forget. I was staying with my friend Paula in her house in the mountain. One afternoon we were bored and we decided to go for a walk. The views were utterly stunning and calm and peace reigned around us.

When it started to get dark we decided to go home and all of a sudden we realised that we were completely lost. The peace and calm became in anxiety and fear. There was anything around us and it was getting very, very late. As soon as we had coverage in the mobile we call the police, as there wasn’t another option.

After a while, when it was pitch black, they found us. Unbelievably we were ten kilometres far from Paula’s house. I’ll certainly think twice about going for a walk through the forest in the future!

SHORT STORY

Last summer I had an experience I'll never forget. One boring night, while I was watching a stupid program called "Who is the worst?", a friend of mine called and said to go to the forest and run a little bit in order to stretch before the 100 meters Barcelona Race which was taking place the next week. I accepted.

When we were reaching the forest, Joseph, my friend, who is quite older than me, radically stopped. He said he had heard a strange noise coming from the depths of the forest. He was scared to death. I tried to revive him, and hopefully he finally accepted to keep running. After twenty ten minutes, in the most pitch black zone of the forest, I started to hear a weird noise. I was petrified but I tried not to listen to it. It was a voice from a man. He was saying "Don't make another steep or you both are dead". I couldn't stand listening this and I stopped. Joseph, who was running in front of me didn't see me, and continue running. I tried to call him but he was listening to music as always. He didn't stop, so I started running again without resting to catch him. I don't know how or when but I lost sight of him. I decided to return home and hope he came back home. I was very scared, hungry and completely filthy because I steeped in a paddle of mud, so I started running to get home as earlier as I could, but suddenly I saw a man in the distance. Probably the same man who was whispering before. He was coming towards me. I turned round, but the same man was now there! I didn't know what to do. I close my eyes trying to think what to do.

After a while I opened the eyes. The man had disappeared. In his place was Joseph waiting for me. He asked me what happened to me that 20 minutes I had been stayed lied on the floor. I watched very carefully Joseph, and I could see something in his face, he was happier than ever. Of course, today is Halloween! It must have been the Halloween's Joseph joke! I was utterly impressed. He use to do very good jokes, but this year's is the best, I thought.

A summer night

This summer, while I was staying at home, one of my friends called me. She asked me if I would like to watch a film in a garage with two more friends. The idea was good, so I accepted it and at night I went to her garage that was near my house.

While I was going to the place, I only could see the pitch black street. Suddently, I heard the sound of an iron door. It came from the swimmingpool that has an access by the street. I was completely frightened and I didn't know if run home or go along the street. For a seconds I felt totally scared and then I heard some laughs. This fact raised my fear until the moment that I saw my friends' car parked.

They saw that I was utterly furious, so the two boys got out of the swimmingpool. Actually, if I were them, I would had laugh out loud seeing somebody in that situation because it wasn't such terrifying. Finally, we went to watch the movie that, in fact, was a terror movie.

ABOUT ME

I really do not know how to describe my-self; since I’m still in a process of learning about my-self.        So far, I can say that I’m an easy-going, talkative person, but that’s just one side of me. Also, I consider my-self a good-natured and sensible guy, though quite often, people see the superficial side in me. As I said, frequently I’m seen as a rather cold, superficial or even obnoxious boy. The answer is yes, I’m a perfectionist, I love order and I’m very keen about good manners.

My main interests in life are politics, religion and HM Queen Elizabeth II and Margaret Thatcher. The last one, I have been given the privilege to meet her in a private audience in December. I have to admit, that she is one of my mentors in life. Due to her and her innovative  politics, I have decided to become a politician.
Allow me to briefly talk about my life.

I was born in Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou, where my biological parents passed away. I wasn’t even a week old, that I was adopted by the Yeo-Sanz, my family. I live with my parents, my sister and her family, and my grand-mother. Ever since I was born, I have lived in Great Britain and Spain, travelled throughout most of the European and Asiatic countries and have attended six different schools. As you can observe I have a lot of world behind me. Now, I live a rather sedentarily life, I live in Barcelona but spend most of my time at our country-side Estate. In the future, I would like to live between London and Barcelona, where I have both my families and heart.

I’M LOOKING FOR PEN FRIENDS WHO ARE

Age: No age average requested.

Gender: Either male or female

My only wish is to find somebody who is a good speaker and listener, who is authentic and truthful. I want to make this a good and challenging experience, so before anybody takes this as a joke, please abstain yourself from adding me to their friend’s list.

The only request I make is that whoever wants to be my friend must have three things present: Being respectful, honest and not afraid to confront me.

Occupation: Student

Age: 19

ABOUT ME

I’m a serious, strong-willed boy from Georgia. I hate bossy, authoritarian people because they remember me of my father, who used to hit me when I was a child. I’m cold-blooded and heartless, so I do not like sensitive, good-natured people either. However, I do like flowers and music, they are my only weakness and it has been so ever since I was little. I am a fighter for the change and in my free time I like to write about my future plan of revolution. My deepest dream is to create a new revolutionary nation, free from capitalism and, of course, subordinate to me.

I’M LOOKING FOR PEN FRIENDS WHO ARE:

Age: Indeterminate

Gender: Either male or female

I’m interested in getting to know weak, easy-controllable people and I would like to find youth eager to join my revolution team against the authorities. If you are obedient and complacent, we will get on very well. I’m also looking for intelligent, warm-hearted men, catholics and important people such as doctors and engineers to create a winter camp at Siberia. I’m sure they will enjoy their time there very much.

ABOUT ME:

I consider myself as a very outgoing person (although I can be little shy sometimes), crazy (but coherent), with clear ideas and friend of my friends. Sometimes I have bad mood (I admit), but I think that this proves I'm a person with character, that sometimes is better to have it than not have it.

I have lived in Barcelona all my live. I love living here because, apart from that the city is so wonderfull, you can choose between going to the mountain or the sea and this is something that in many places you can’t do it. But live here has disadvantatges too: there's a lot of polution, noise and the truth is that the city is so much expensive. However, it's a city which is one of the best seen in Spain.

Nowadays, I live with my parents and my brother but I'd like to become independent with any fiend when I start my college career and have a steady job to pay the rent.

I don’t consider myself as a person with "hobbies". I think I'm the typical who like being with friends and having a good time with them. What fascinates me is travelling. In fact, every summer I go with my parents anywhere in the world and it also helps me to forget the problems and to spend a good time with my family. When I grow old, I'd like to take a backpack, money, and go to explore the world, far away from here. For me, it would be an incredible experience. Also, I’d like do skydiving but as I’m a bit jinx, I’m sure that the parachute do not open and I will turn into mush for babies.

Honestly, I have no idea what I will do in the future. I'd like to be a veterinarian but for now I prefer not to make decisions or settle on anything. I just want to live in the moment without being worried about what will and will not do.

I AM LOOKING FOR A PEN FRIEND TO:

• Age: 17-20
• Gender: Either male or female

I am interested in meeting new people, especially if they share the same interests than me. If it’s possible, I'd like to meet people from other countries to learn about their culture and to test my English and increase my level. I would also like to learn French or Italian but in my opinion, I think that this is more a whim than anything else.
If anyone is interested in this, send an e-mail to laiabarreram@gmail.com. I will receive with pleasure.

ABOUT ME

I’m a quite sensitive and friendly boy from Barcelona. I really appreciate little details and I love surprises, nevertheless, don’t tell me I have a surprise or my impatience will invade me. I love sports like Formula 1 or football and I love music as well. That’s why I spend most of my time playing the guitar at home. My passion is technology, and if I could, I would be the first one buying exclusive brand-new products when they were available. I live with my parents, my sister, my grandma and my uncle; however, I’ve to say that he is like my older brother. Living in Barcelona is something that a lot of people would appreciate. Here you can find everything you are looking for. However, this privilege has its drawbacks: it’s a really expensive city, there’s a lot of vandalism, lot of noise and pollution… That’s why I would like living in the outskirts of Barcelona.

I’M LOOKING FOR PEN FRIENDS WHO ARE

Age: 16-18

Gender: Either male or female

I’m interested in getting to know new people, with whom I share interests, have good conversations, have fun, but above all, someone to help, support and make him or her happy. I don’t get on really well with big-headed, moody or self-centered people, however, I appreciate any warm-hearted, good-natured and strong-willed person. In a few months I’m going to travel abroad for a conference in Macedonia, where I’ll have to debate some current affairs with other European people. That’s the reason I want and need to practice English.
