Biography: Lance Armstrong
Lance Armstrong, winner of seven Tour de France titles, is an American cyclist who now lives in Girona, Spain. He was born in Texas on 8 September 1971 and was raised single-handedly by his mother after his father walked out on the family. This upsetting event became the inspiration for young Lance to strive to become the best of all time.
After becoming a professional cyclist in 1992, and achieving many accolades, he was struck down by an aggressive form of cancer. Nevertheless, he was able to overcome this terrible disease and subsequently joined US postal cycling team in 1998. Following his return to cycling he went on to become the first to win seven Tour de France titles.
Having retired from cycling in 2005 he divides his time between his native Texas and his new home in Girona. Perhaps the thing that I find most remarkable about this man is that he has used his fame to benefit others through the Lance Armstrong Foundation, which has raised $50 million dollars for cancer research. great
