Franz Beckenbauer

Franz Beckenbauer, known as Der Kaiser and the best sweeper of all time, was born in Munich on 11 September 1945. He played for TSV 1860 Munich until the age of 14 when he was signed for Bayern Munich,    and stunned the world in the 1966 World Cup in England scoring 4 goals. Germany finished as runner-up.

As a result of his brilliant performances with the national team he became the captain of Germany after the 1970 World Cup. After the 1972 European Cup, he won three times win thrice the Bundesliga (1972-1974) and the Champions League (1974-1976) with Bayern Munich. In 1974 he won the World cup in a memorable final against the Netherlands of Johan Cruyff.

After retiring of playing football in 1983, he became coach and with no experience led Germany to the finals of the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. Nowadays he is the Honour President of Bayern Munich and Honour Member of the German Football Federation. What I admire most about him is his leadership and that he never surrendered even nor when he had to play a match with his arm in a sling. In my opinion Franz Beckenbauer is the best player of ever
